While the parent site continues, this specific production stream ceased in 1981 when the specialized stills were removed, making Mosstowie a finite historical artifact of mid-20th-century Scottish distilling experimentation.

Because Mosstowie was produced using adjustable Lomond technology, a singular distillery character cannot be reliably reconstructed. The stills were capable of producing heavy or light spirits depending on configuration, meaning flavor profiles are strictly bottle-specific rather than representative of a fixed house style. Verified research indicates that the 1964-1981 timeline concerns this specific equipment stream and not the closure of the parent Miltonduff site.
