Littlemill — Історія та примітки
Littlemill stood at Bowling on the north bank of the Clyde and claimed a distilling licence back to 1772, which puts it among the oldest recorded sites in Scotland. Its Lowland spirit was never conventional: the distillery experimented with rectifying heads on the stills, with adjustable copper plates and, at times, with peated and heavily rectified variants sold under other names.
Production ended in 1994, the buildings were dismantled in 1997 and a fire destroyed what remained in 2004, so the site cannot be revived the way Brora and Rosebank were. The surviving casks passed to the Loch Lomond Group, which has released them sparingly at high ages — meaning the entire future of Littlemill is a fixed and shrinking number of bottles.
Профіль смаку
Soft Lowland fruit with a waxy, slightly oily core; long ageing pushes it into tropical fruit, beeswax and coconut oak.
Пляшки та колекційна історія
- Loch Lomond's high-age single casks — typically 25 years and up — are the official line and appear in small numbered batches.
- Older independent bottlings from 1980s casks are more common than official ones and show the distillery before its final years.
- Dunglas and Dumbuck are Littlemill's experimental sister labels — same stills, different recipe, and far scarcer.
